Anne Estella reviewed BUILDING GIANTS 1 year ago

Preston’s Alt-Rock goliaths BUILDING GIANTS have re-released their 2018 single ‘Talk of the Town’, which is accompanied by a frenetically whacky video filmed in local green spaces with seventy-odd enthusiastic extras braving the elements in the name of art. The video follows the dreamlike (mis)adventures of band members Joe, Matt, Tom and Huw as they enter into a wardrobe that’s mysteriously appeared in the middle of their rehearsal studio and emerge from the other side to find themselves in a park surrounded by flamboyant partygoers, before befriending an unlikely group of Disney princesses!

Then the real fun begins as a boxing match ensues, where spectators can be seen holding up banners that read “Who The F**k Are Building Giants???” A carnival-style parade then begins, with BUILDING GIANTS forming a marching band leading a procession of dinosaurs and various other weird and wonderful creatures along the path to a bandstand. There are randomly placed pineapples, fake beards, musicians standing on cars… this video has it all, and for no apparent reason other than, heck, why not?! If you like your rock breathtakingly intense and dangerously addictive, check out the single and make sure you catch BUILDING GIANTS on the road. They may soon be appearing at a park (or venue) near YOU!

‘Talk of the Town’ was re-released on 2nd February. Watch the official music video here:
The video was shot on location in Avenham and Miller Parks, Preston.

Anne Estella reviewed SOUL JACKER 1 year ago

Soul Jacker, whose debut single Nocebo has just been nominated for a Banger Music Award in the U.S., will be kick-starting the New Year with their latest release, Nobody Loves You, which is set to drop on 17th January. Hailing from the hills of North Wales, the Alt-Rock trio, comprising Andy Salter on lead vocals and guitar, and brothers Dan Robson and Damon Robson on bass and drums respectively, pour their Indie-Punk sensibilities into an edgy, hard-hitting track that embodies an unmistakably British sound.

The taunting chorus, “Nobody loves you, nobody cares” echoes throughout the song and as the melody’s seismic dynamics batter your ears, a fuzzed-up guitar solo cuts through the grit, coolly revelling in the jagged interplay between menacing drums and swaggering riffs. With an album reportedly on the horizon, the taste buds are well and truly tickled and teased for what’s to come in 2020.

So, once the turkey sandwiches have become an indigestible memory, festive jingles have stopped ringing in your ears and that shiny new gym membership has become nothing more than a good intention, let Soul Jacker bring you back down to earth with a sharp jolt, consisting of these three little words: “Nobody Loves You”.
