We started On The House in 2013 as a small independent music reviewing blog. Over the years, we have moved to and from many different locations and have taken many forms, but have always tried to stay true to our roots as they are what have gotten us to where we are. This pride in our heritage, combined with our inherent love for artistic passion and celebration, meant that we just had to seize the opportunity when we were offered to join the Exeter Street Arts Festival committee and host our own stage this year in the garden of the Exeter Phoenix. This is going to be very, very fun.
The stage will be made up of acoustic artists of up to two members, so we can comply with social distancing guidelines and volume levels for surrounding neighbours. If you are an Exeter based artist and would be interested in performing at the event, please send us an email at email@example.com with the subject title ‘Exeter Street Arts Festival’ and we will be in touch once we’ve checked everyone out. We consider every artist equally for every event we are a part of, which is why we will be putting a shortlist of artist submissions to our 65+ music reviewers to make the final decisions on the slots we have control over – so you know you are getting the strongest and most diverse line up we can get!
This event, powered by the combined minds of Exeter’s creative sector, is set to be one of the first festival-style events the South West will experience on this side of the recent COVID-19 pandemic. We are all combining our talents to make sure you have a safe experience, whilst providing you with a bit of relief from the on-going pressures of the world around us; we all deserve it after the last few months!
“Our mission is to bring colour, music and dancing to the city centre streets of Exeter through a one-day showcase of local and vibrant live art performances and displays. Established by Music in Devon Initiative (MIDI).” – Exeter Street Arts Festival
More information on the Exeter Street Arts Festival can be found below. They have recently started a Crowdfunder to help cover some of the additional costs of the event, so we can make sure it’s as smooth and carefully planned out as possible. Please donate if you can, as every penny goes towards celebrating Exeter’s artistic culture and secures a brighter future for the event after we come out the other side of this pandemic.
We cannot wait to return to some form of normality, with a beer in hand and some quality music to liven up our spirits – we’ve all been craving it!
