The Kites

Classic Rock

Kick ass rock and roll with indie vibes set for word domination

The Kites are four young British musicians on a mission to rebirth the classical rock and roll sounds that influenced them. We yearn for a time where greats such as Jimi Hendrix , The Who and Led Zeppelin walked the earth, and so we chase that sound created by the 70s as far as we can.
We adhere to an era where pure emotion dominated the musical scene. We are a symbol of the past, imbued into the modern age. We aim not to divide, but to unify. To weave stories, not conflict. To craft symphonies, conducted by the union of those equally passionate and loving.

The Kites Debut Single Breakwater City was recorded on The Who’s personal mixing board, the same one that produced albums such as My Generation, aiding in the inspiration to chase an age where music was more than diss tracks following a 4 on the floor beat.

The Kites are currently in the studio and on stage in venues across the south west of England, while preparing for the release of the upcoming EP ‘Orange Trees’ building up to the debut album ‘As High As’, it is clear that there is a lot to be excited for when you hear of The Kites, so stay tuned and be sure to follow us on all social media to get the latest on gigs and upcoming new music!

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but holy crap I wasn’t expecting this!

The first thing that strikes me is the vocalists bassy tone, booming and powerful with a real command of dynamics and range. The song is very much controlled by the vocals, with the twinkling guitar and minimalistic drums emphasising the more powerful sections and amplifying the softer moments. This doesn’t mean the instrumentation shouldn’t be complimented, knowing when to restrict your playing can help enhance the impact of your track – and The Kites have done that expertly with ‘Breakwater City’.

The Kites only have one track on their Spotify at the moment, but there is already a clear path for their sound and I could see even bigger, even more dramatic tracks emerging from this bands catalogue in the future. It’s very rare you come across a male vocal like this in a full band, there’s plenty of potential to go in many directions from this! My only critical comment would be that I wouldn’t class this as rock n’ roll, but that’s because I like my rock n’ roll fast and dirty – but again, this is only their first track!

Excited to hear more, proper job!
