Ghosts of Torrez

Atmospheric Indie Rock, Cinematic, Post Rock

Post Rock band from Hertfordshire

GOT released their first single (The Return) earlier in the year to critical acclaim and featured on Fresh On The Net’s Eclectic Picks playlist

“A gorgeous, genre-bending, cinematic sounding instrumental that mixes Celtic folk and Beatles psychedelia” – Four Bombs – Louder than War

“A song that will transport you away from whatever situation you are in, to a void”- Charlie Ashcroft, Amazing Radio

“It’s a powerful road trip, which can break your brain if you listen carelessly”- Indie Criollo

Taking their lead from bands such as Joy Division, Sigur Ros and Mogwai, their songs build from soft, slow beginnings into cinematic style wonders.

“Our songs are not made for the two minute, short attention span crowd, this is music that allows you to switch off from the chaotic trappings of modern life and let your imagination run free” – Ghosts of Torrez

The new single “Closer” was released on 29/10/2021 on all streaming platforms and follows a more 80’s post-punk feel (very much inspired by the production sound achieved by Martin Hannett, particularly on Joy Division’s later, classic output).

“Closer”, the latest single by Ghosts Of Torrez is a slow-building indie ballad, driven by a sweet melodic guitar lick that runs throughout and is accompanied by layered instrumentation and delicate vocal harmonies as the track develops. This track is one of those rare pieces of music that creates an instant atmosphere, regardless of whether you enjoy it musically or not. “Closer” is the kind of track you would hear behind a penultimate ending to a teen rom-com when the two main characters finally kiss by the bike shed in the rain.

If used in the right scenario, this powerful piece of music could really elevate an accompanying piece of media. I look forward to listening again in the fututre!
